Dr Bill Frankland, 99, elected to an Honorary Fellowship

We are delighted to announce that Dr Bill Frankland (1930, Physiological Sciences) has been elected to an Honorary Fellowship. Dr Frankland is a pioneering allergist whose work at St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London, has shaped the field of allergy studies from its inception. The founder of systematic pollen counting, Dr Frankland directed the Allergy Clinic at St Mary's for many years. It is now named the Frankland Allergy Clinic. Before his work in the Allergy Clinic he was a Registrar in the Dermatological and Special Clinics under Alexander Fleming.

Dr Frankland celebrates his 100th birthday in March 2012. He continues to practise as a consultant physician.
