Barber, David.

David read Honour Moderations in Latin and Greek and then PPE. He is now a Development Manager with the local Education Business Partnership company in Lancashire.

Barker, John William.

For the last twelve years working as an international consultant, in particular assisting Central and Eastern European countries to prepare for accession to the European Union. Currently based in Bucharest. The family home is in England, and one daughter, Sally, is currently in her second year at Queen's reading French and Spanish.

Barker, Trevor.

Trevor read Chemistry at Queen's before joining Logica UK where he is now a Technical Consultant. Trevor is married (to Zoe) with 2 children (Michael and Piers). While at Oxford he gained four half-blues for Archery, and since then he has been seen helping the Normans to defeat the Englisc at the Battle of Hastings (the big re-enactments in 2000 and 2006 that is); Englisc is the intended spelling by the way.

Keith read Engineering Science at Queen's and greatly enjoyed rowing and OICCU. Nowadays he's a senior lecturer in the School of Electronic Engineering, Information Technology and Mathematics at the University of Surrey.

Batley, Julie.

After leaving Queen's in 2002 Julie has spent the last four years at Selwyn College, Cambridge studying for a PhD in Biochemistry. She is about to take up a postdoctorial position at the department of Molecular and Cell Biology, UC Berkeley. Julie married Dr Andrew Aspden at Selwyn Chapel, Cambridge on 10th December 2005.

Baugh, Steve.

After graduating in Geology from Oxford I completed a PGCE. Following this I worked on Oil Rigs in the North Sea for a while before going into teaching. I lived and worked in Scotland, Wales and London in between times. I also spent 6 years as an associate lecturer with the Open University.
I have worked at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School in Sutton Coldfield since 1990. I am responsible for running the teacher training course for new graduates and the induction of newly qualified teachers as well as running the geography and geology departments. It is my job to lead our bid to be a full training college.I am also doing research in education related to the training of teachers. It is fair to say that I am busy!
I have been living with Christine since 1992 and very happily married since 1996. We moved to a new house in Staffordshire village of Fradley, just north of Lichfield in June 2003 and we absolutely love it here. Holly Ann Baugh was born on Midsummers day 2004, a true little priestess, she is the most precious thing in my life.
I would always be happy to hear from anyone who knows me. We have spare rooms if folks want to stay.

Behrendt, Gerhard.

After obtaining the D.Phil. in Mathematics, Gerhard worked for several years as lecturer at the University of Tübingen. In 1994 he swapped discrete mathematics for discreet mathematics, working in cryptology for the Federal Government of Germany. He lives in Bonn, is married and has two children.

Peter read Chemistry at Queen's and then completed MBA and PhD degrees at the Graduate School of Business, The University of Chicago. He is now Professor, Management Science and Information Systems at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario in London Canada. Bertram, Chris.

(Update to previous entry) Chris read Music at Queen's under James Dalton, then switched tack completely, and currently works in IT for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young as a Senior Analyst, specialising in Programme Management. Married with 2 children, he still finds time to play in the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, where he is the principal viola. Would like to hear from any of his contemporaries at Queen's.

Following a decade in marketing & advertising based in London in the 1980s, Chris returned to the 'other' university in Oxford where he has held a succession of academic & management roles. He was appointed Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business in 2010. Married to Honor, a BBC news producer and Oxford magistrate with a daughter Isabel (b.2001)

Bobzien, Susanne.

Susanne Bobzien was the first woman to be appointed a tutorial fellow at Queens. After twelve years as Fellow and Praelector in Philosophy at Queens, she took up a Senior Professorship in Philosophy at Yale University. In 2010 she accepted a Senior Research Fellowship at Yale. Her published work is mainly on vagueness, determinism and freedom, and ancient logic.

John studied Classics at Queen's and is currently teaching English in Greece for the next year.

Booker, Duncan.

Duncan read PPE at Queens and followed that with a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Glasgow. He has remained in Glasgow and now works as a policy advisor to Glasgow City Council, occasionally drawing upon some things he remembers from PPE. He is a single parent with two teenage children and still harbours mid-life hopes of writing a novel some time soon.

Bourne, Martin Albert.

Since completing his MPhys Martin has moved to Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands to complete a PhD in Astrophysics. Martin uses large cosmological simulations to model and study the formation and evolution of galaxies.

Bowlt, Joanne L.

After a few months work and independent travel in Asia Joanne was commissioned into the Army as a Logistics officer and spent six years working in Germany, the Balkans and the UK.
Now a Territorial Army Major she left her job as Campaign Manager of the no campaign ("europe yes, euro no")when she was mobilised in February 2003 and served four months in Iraq as an Army and Coalition Provisional Administration press officer.
Now a civilian Public Relations consultant again, she is travelling, with her boyfriend, from Oxford UK to Oxford NZ in an 1954 Morris Oxford car raising funds in aid of the British Red Cross. Departing 5 May 2004 Joanne and Tim expect to travel for approximately a year and would very much like to hear from old Queen's members, particularly those on route through Europe, N Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

Brand, Christopher Richard.

After graduation, Chris worked as a prison psychologist, a psychological researcher
(Nuffield College, Oxford) and psychology lecturer (Edinburgh University). In 1996,
his book about IQ, THE g FACTOR, led to media-orchestrated outrage at his
political incorrectness. He now works as a research consultant to the Woodhill
Foundation (USA) and lives in Edinburgh with his Taiwanese wife, Shiou-yun. He
has a son and two daughters by former marriages.

Brenner, Albert John.

After studying PPE at Queen's, AJ Brenner studied philosophy at Yale before becoming a banker. He is now the executive managing director of Asset Allocation Parametrics, an investment research and advisory firm he founded in 2005. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven,Connecticut where he teaches corporate finance.

Ian read E.E.M. at Queen's. He was Captain of Boats in 95/96 and is presently Secretary of Queen's College Rowing Society. The Society provides financial support for the development of rowing at Queen's whilst also providing a social focus for old Boat Club members. Ian now works as a strategy consultant atMercer Management Consultingin London. He would be happy to be contacted by anyone interested in the Rowing Society or by current students who would like a frank view of life in strategy consulting.

Burden, Adrian.

Adrian Burden came to Queen's to study for a D.Phil. in the Department of Materials. He was also the founding president of the university lifesaving club, and spent a year running the College's student computing facilities.

Burney, Rick.

Rick studied at Queen's College as a Marshall scholar from the U.S. . He achieved his M.Sc. in Immunogenetics at the Institute for Molecular Medicine in 1993. From there, and then earned a M.D. degree in Washington D.C. . He is currently a house officer (resident) in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Seattle, Washington. He recently married Ms Meredith Hansen and they are braving the rain of the Pacific Northwest (for which Oxford was a nice warmup).

Ronald read Modern Languages (Fr./Ger.) at Queens and left the UK to work in Germany after graduating. Held various positions as Marketing Manager and Managing Director, then opted for independence. He is currently a translator and teacher of WingTsun kung fu living near Bristol.

Mark read Chemistry at Queen's between '81 and '85 and went on to take a PhD at Surrey University in metalloprotein chemistry.
He is married to Sandra with twin teenage sons, Tom and Andy, and resides in rural North Essex. He is presently running the Tactical Communications business group for BAE Systems, based in Basildon.
In his spare time he manages Hedingham Hawks Under 13's Youth Football Team, and suffers the agonies of being a Leeds United supporter!

Byrne, Michael.

Old members may remember Michael as playing the fanfare on the College trumpet outside the buttery each evening before dinner. He says he thinks they used to have bets on which note he would split that particular evening. Michael has obtained a 1st class BA in Maths with the Open University (1992). He is currently studying with the Open University for a Bsc in Science. He is also studying for an AAT qualification in Accounting. At present he is self-employed, tutoring in Music, Maths and Science, and preparing accounts for small businesses.
