Habron, Robert. 1976-1979
Robert matriculated 1976 BA Biochemistry. After graduation, Robert worked from 1981 to 1998 as an accountant in local government; currently he is working as an IT systems engineer in Huddersfield. Married 1982, divorced 1997 - 3 children. Robert says he is a dedicated adherent of the 12 step programme of recovery & Theravada meditation.
Hague, Rod. 1963-1966
Rod read PPE at Queens, and has taught at the University of Newcastle since 1969, where he is Senior Lecturer in Politics. Best known as co-author of a standard text on comparative government, Rod is also Executive Director of the Applied Policy Sciences Unit, which carries out research and consultancy for clients in public and private sectors. Currently on secondment to Westlakes Research Institute, Rod is contributing to the development of a postgraduate college in Cumbria with an innovative multi-disciplinary focus on environmental issues.
Hall, Sara. 1981-1985
I am now Global Head of Litigation for the UniCredit Group.
Hamill, David John. 1979-1981
After seventeen and a half years as a Member of the Queensland State Parliament, and nine years as a Cabinet Minister, David decided to "retire" to the world of the Boardroom. He and his wife Pat, an Organisational Psychologist have four sons and they live in Ipswich, near Brisbane.
Harding (née Wilkins), Anne. 1983-1986
Anne read Modern Languages (French and Spanish) at Queen's. She worked for the HSBC Group in Group Public Affairs in Hong Kong before returning to the UK in 1996. She now lives in Newbury with husband Fraser and two children.
Hargreaves, Julia. 1988-1991
After completing a BA in Physics at Queen's Jules did a PhD in Astrophysics at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. In 1995 she went to work as a modeller of ocean waves at the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, near Birkenhead. She married James Annan (Univ. 1989-1994) on a hill in Scotland in the summer of 1996. In 2001 Jules and James had to find homes for their 15 pet rats because they were moving to new jobs at the Frontier Research System for Global Change, Yokohama, Japan, where they are now studying climate change with the help, and hindrance, of the world's fastest computer.
Harmsworth, Andrew P. 1992-1996
Andrew originally set up the alumni pages of this site! He read Physics here, then completed a Science PGCE. He is now Head of Physics and Sustainability at The Leys in Cambridge, has driven a petrol-electric hybrid car for many years and owns and runs the revision website www.GCSE.com. He lives in Cambridge with his wife and child and misses Oxford.
Harris, Mark. 1979-1982
Mark studied Modern History in between footballing duties as League & Referees Secretary for OUAFC (1080/81) and subsidising the beer cellar at every opportunity. On graduating Mark went into marketing with a succession of companies, latterly as Marketing Director of The Prize Company, which runs competitions for BBC, ITV & Sky (amongst many more). Over the last 20 years he has found time to get married (twice), become a proud father of two, made several breweries very happy and become chairman of Altrincham Football Club, where he still resides (that's in the Altrincham area, not at the club!). Having lost touch with old mates, Mark would love to re-establish contact.
Harrison, Steven B.. 1988-1991
Mr. Harrison studied PPE and Engineering Science while at Queens. He also received a Blue for basketball. Upon completion of his studies, he returned to the United States, where he is an officer and pilot in the US Air Force. Currently, Lt Col Harrison is stationed at the Pentagon where he is charged with developing Global Mobility Concepts of Operation.
Hartnoll, Richard. 1966-1969
After graduating in 1969 Richard studied at the Institute of Criminology in Cambridge. Subsequently he pursued a career in social and epidemiological research on drug addiction, working in London (1972- 1990) Barcelona (1990-1995) and finally Lisbon (1995-2002). In 2002, he resigned from his job at the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction and changed career. He now works as a professional photographer in Lisbon, Portugal, where he lives with his partner Dagmar and daughter Noa. His two older children, Sean and Kate, are currently working/studying in the USA and Cuba.
Hatton, Keith. 1990-1993
Keith was at Queen's reading Physics. He is now a freelance computer consultant and has worked on various projects for Oxford colleges and the University, specialising in local area network and database design and administration.
Hazel, John. 1951-1956
John studied lit.hum. and taught for 41 years. He is now retired but writing a couple of 'Who's whos' about the classical world.

Hewins, Ralph R. 1982-1985
Ralph Hewins read Modern History & Economics at Queen's and is now married to Sara Whitlock (Queen's 1983-86)
Hickson, Peter. 1965-1969
Peter read Classics at Queens before joining K. Shoes where he rose to be Managing Director of the Retail Company and main board director. He was then Head hunted to Lonrho as a Divisional Managing Director before moving into the 'not for Profit' world with The Prince's Trust, latterly as Divisional Director for the North of England. His final position before retirement in 2005 was as CEO of Groundwork Trust in West Cumbria. Peter has been married to Sheila for 33 years. They continue to live in Allithwaite in the Lake District where Sheila is the local GP. He has two children, Caroline having graduated from Cambridge reading French and Russian is now Manager International Executive Services Tax with KPMG in Sydney Australia, and Adrian gained a 1st in Mechanical Engineering at Coventry and now works for Cummins in Darlington.
Hiett, Peter. 1977-1981
Peter read French and German and then went into journalism. He now works for BBC World Service Radio as a duty editor in the newsroom. Past postings include Jakarta correspondent and North Africa correspondent. He is married with one child; three more children from a previous marriage.
Higgs, John. 1979-1982
After Queen's John spent a year (1982-83) at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, doing an MSc in Radio Astronomy. He then migrated south and has worked in Exeter for Devon County Council in various IT-related roles ever since. He currently lives in Torquay, and is married with one daughter.
Higham, Paul. 1974-1977
Paul has somehow ended up a Principal Consultant in the Business Intelligence Consulting practice of Oracle, despite taking PPE at a time when choice of word processor was limited to fountain pen vs. biro. Along the way he did an MA and a PhD, and garnered work experience ranging from clerk at the DHSS to running the analytics group for Greenwich NatWest Asset Securitisation. Married to Debbie, they have two children. Now resident in the flat lands of East Anglia, he often takes comfort from the bitter easterly winds in the music venues of Cambridge.
Hill, Rev Dr Charles. 1971-1973
Charles was Hastings Senior Scholar at Queen's and gained a D.Phil in German under Professor Prawer. His tutor was Bill Calder. Over twenty years on, he's Head of the Upper School at Dover Grammar School for Boys, and a non-stipendiary priest in the Church of England.
Hirst, David. 1957-1964
David read chemistry and subsequently obtained a D. Phil under Jack Linnett's supervision. After Oxford he spent a year and a half as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard. While in the U.S. he met and married Judy. He returned to the UK to take up a lectureship in chemistry at Warwick University when it opened in October 1965. His research interests were in computational chemistry and reaction dynamics and he retired as an Emeritus Reader in 2003. Gardening is a major interest and he and Judy open their garden in Leamington Spa for the National Gardens Scheme.
Ho, Wing Yiu G.. 1987-1989
Gary read economics and gained a M.Phil under the supervision of Professor John Vickers. He obtained the George Webb Medley Prize in Best Thesis and a Senior Taberdar. Since then he's in the private equity investment and and is now the Managing Director of SQW Asia Limited practicing economic and management consultancy
Hochroth, James. 1973-1975
James was awarded first class honours in PPE. After completing an MBA at Stanford, he joined McKinsey as a management consultant. He has lived in Sydney since 1979, happily married with two grown sons. He works as a consultant and investor and is chairman of a private hospital.
Hodge, Laurence Dietrich. 1971-1974
Hodges, nee Gould, Linda Mary. 1981-1985
Following a degree in PPP, Linda took a variety of career paths before settling on teaching music kindergarten. She currently resides in Berkshire with a husband, four children, two cats and a dog. She may be best remembered for playing the dinner bugle and still plays!
Hodgkinson, Anna Kathrin. 2003-2004
Anna came to Queen's in 2003 to study for an MSt in Oriental Studies. After completing this she went to Berlin to finish her MA. She now lives in the UK and works in archaeology.
Hodgson, Ian. 1980-1983
Ian took a first at Sussex with his thesis on the control of Third World Famine then came to Oxford to work on the artificial blood project under Sir Jack Baldwin FRS for which he received his MSc (by research). After Oxford Ian became a chemical pathologist becoming a consultant for the Medicheck Group & Leicester Health Screening Centre. In 1992 he received a DSc, left full-time pathology and became a 'roving consultant' he still lives in leafy Buckinghamshire.
Hoffman, Jonathan Malcolm. 1971-1974
After leaving Queen's, Jonathan did an M Sc in Economics at LSE. He then spent thirteen years at the Bank of England as an economist. In 1988 he switched to the private sector and since that date the majority of his career has been with Credit Suisse First Boston. He also served as an Adviser to the Commons Social Security Select Committe for its enquiry into Unfunded Pensions in Europe. He and his wife Wendy have a son of 24 and a daughter of 18.
Hogg, Fiona. 1992-1996
After completing her modern history degree, Fiona trained at OUDES to teach secondary history. In 2001 she took up post as Head of Mathematics at Soucthfields Community College. She and her partner live in south west London with their son Finian, born January 2003.
Holder, David. 1982-1985
After studying physics David has had a number of different jobs before settling at the doomed Daresbury Laboratory in Cheshire designing particle accelerators. He married Jill Hatton (St. Hilda's 1982-85) who is now a primary school teacher and they have two school-age children. David can still be spotted frequently on his bicycle and more occasionally rowing on the Mersey. David has a website here.
Holdsworth, Barry. 1992-1995
Now calling himself James, he has completed an Initial Teacher Education course at OUDES. James then taught for four years at a private school in Norfolk, before startins a Mathematics teaching post at Eton College, Windsor in September 2000.
Holland, Jonathan . 1979-1981
Jonathan is Assistant Bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane, Australia. His PhD is in the history of the diocese since 1950. He is married to Kerry, an artist, and they have three children.
Holland, Peter. 1981-1984
Peter Holland read Zoology at Queen's, then went to the National Institute for Medical Research, London, for his PhD. He spent the next seven years back in Oxford, including three years at Queen's as the Browne Research Fellow. After eight years as Professor of Zoology at the University of Reading, he returned to Oxford in 2002 to become Linacre Professor of Zoology and a Fellow of Merton College.
Holme, David. 1991-1994
David read physics at Queen's. After a stint in consultancy (both IT and Strategic), David did an MBA at INSEAD (Paris). David now works for a Hedge fund in central London.
Hong, Rong-I. 1995-1999
Following a D.Phil. in Molecular Biophysics, he returned to Taiwan to fulfill his duty as a Government Scholar from 1999 to 2003. Rong-I now serves as the Chairman & CEO of Agnitio Science & Technology, focusing on integration of MEMS and IT for biotechnology applications.

Horwood, Martin. 1981-1984
Martin has worked in advertising and fundraising and is now Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Cheltenham, elected May 2005. Martin married Dr Shona Arora in 1995 and lives in Cheltenham.
Howell, Tom. 1971-1975
Tom read Modern Languages at Queen's. He now lives and works in Reading as a partner in a commercial law firm - Clarks Solicitors - but with some important Oxford-based clients.
Hoyer, Carolin. 1998-2002
After receiving an MPhil in Linguistics, Carolin returned to Germany to study medicine at the University of Cologne. She is now a 3rd year medical student, currently working on her dissertation in the Molecular Tumor Biology and Immunology lab in Cologne.
Huddart, David. 1975-1979
Despite advice from the University (Dis)Appointments Committee Dave is actually making use of his Chemistry working as an Information Manager for the company formerly known as Albright & Wilson (taken over in 2000 by the French company Rhodia)
Hudson, David. 1968-1971
After a long career in Marketing in the food industry, including 4 years in Japan, I have now retired and have taken on a number of trustee roles. The biggest of these is as a Court Governor for the Whitgift Foundation in Surrey, which is responsible for 3 independent schools-Whitgift, Trinity and Old Palace of John Whitgift.
Hulliger, Manuel. 1975-1976
Manuel obtained his first degree in Medical Biology from the University of Basel (Switzerland). Following an Honours year in Physiology at the University of Edinburgh, he was a graduate student at Wolfson College (1972-75), reading for a D.Phil. in Physiology under Prof. Peter Matthew's supervision. From 1975-1976 he was a Junior Research Fellow in Medicine at Queen's. After a few years (and rather cold winters) in the far North of Sweden, as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Umeå, he returned to his native Switzerland, as a Senior Research Fellow at the Brain Research Institute of the University of Zürich (1979-1988). In 1988 he and his family (wife, Hedi, and daughter, Sara) moved to Canada, where Manuel was appointed Professor of Physiology and Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary. From the outset, his research interests focused on neural (in particular sensory) control of movement, sensorimotor integration and, more recently, on neuromotor rehabilitation in laboratory animals and man.
