Tahir, M Raveem. 2000-2004
Completed an undergraduate Masters in Physics at Queen's (MPhys), followed by a postgraduate Masters by Research (MSc) in Atmospheric Physics at Wolfson (Oxford). Now pursuing a DPhil in Atmospheric Physics at St Edmund Hall. Interests include rifle shooting and horse riding.
Tan, Soo Chuen. 1996-1999
Soo Chuen graduated with a BA Hons in Jurisprudence from Queens, and is now working with MckInsey and Company in New York as a management consultant.
Tanna, Dev. 1991-1994
After completing a degree in Mathematics Dev qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young. He then spent three years at UBS Warburg and he currently works in Corporate Finance at Close Brothers Corporate Finance (CBCF) [www.cbcf.com]. Dev says if anyone would like some advice on a career in Corporate Finance or CBCF then they can contact him by email.
Tate, John. 1996-1999
John left Queens in 1999 to become Head of Research at the European Foundation, of which he is now a Board Member. John has since joined McKinsey & Company, where he is now a Senior Associate. His outside time is taken up in chairing the Associates' Club, a debating and dining society; charity work; and his work as a school governor.
Taylor, Richard. 1980-1983
Richard read psychology at Queen’s. Over the course of the years he added an M.Sc. in organizational psychology and qualified as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, complementing this with an MBA. He worked with the handicapped and drug abusers for 10 years, before spending 10 years as an international management consultant. As of 2008 he has most of his hair intact and isn’t too fat, and has worked as VP HR in an international packaging company for 5 years. He is still happily married to Synve, has lived most of his adult life in Norway, and has 3 children.
Teague, Anthony G.. 1960-1969
Anthony has been a member of the ecumenical Community of Taize (France) since 1969 and is usually known as Brother Anthony. In 1980 he went to Korea and for over 20 years he was Professor in the English Department, Sogang University, Seoul, teaching medieval and renaissance literature. He has now retired, has been appointed Professor Emeritus, and continues to teach there. He has published more than 20 volumes of English translations of contemporary Korean poetry and fiction as well as an introduction to the Korean Way of Tea. He has Korean nationality, his Korean name is An Sonjae.
Thatcher, Christopher. 1968-1973
With a Degree in German and French, and a PGCE, Chris entered teaching and taught in Germany, Malaysia, Austria, and England. He went to Leicester for his M.Ed. in 1979-80. In 1998 he went into the world of property management, and now lives in Bournemouth with wife Marianne (married 1973 in Queen's), but not with his three children who are all energetically pursuing their own careers elsewhere in the world.
Theo, Tatty. 1991-1994
After Queens, Tatty studied baroque cello at the Royal College of Music where she was awarded her ARCM and MMus degrees. She has performed with many of England’s leading period instrument ensembles and at festivals and concert halls throughout Britain and abroad, with live broadcasts on BBC Radio and television. Tatty is currently preparing performing editions of several unpublished works by Handel. She is the founder and director of The Brook Street Band, the award-winning period instrument ensemble specialising in the music of Handel and his European contemporaries. Their first CD will be released on AVIE records on 17 November 2003.
Thompson, Michael Anthony. 1974-1977
Michael read Philosophy & Modern Languages at Queen's before going into marketing in the information technology industry. In 1985 he took a job in Canada, ended up getting married there and never quite got round to leaving. He now lives in Toronto and manages sales and marketing for a software company specialising in the education market.
Thompson, Mike. 1967-1972
After graduation and a PGCE at the Oxford Department of Education, Mike taught modern languages on Merseyside and in Hertfordshire for six years. He then returned to his native Kent in 1978 and has had a number of management posts with Kent County Council: he is currently Local Education Officer for the Cranbrook cluster of schools. He has been married to Janet for 20 years and they live in Maidstone with their children, David and Jessica.
Thornton, Grahame Michael. 1961-1965
Since 1970 has been engaged in the book trade, initially in academic and professional publishing, thence to library supply, and latterly as a second-hand bookseller (can be taken either way),specialist medical bookseller at conferences, book searcher and book fair organiser. Took most of his working life to realise that he was unemployable, so is now self-employed and works from home, enjoying commuting downstairs, reporting to none, and with none reporting to him. Semi-retired, though some say semi-retarded. Used to call himself a bachelor gay. Is still a bachelor. Archetypal SINK (Single Income No Kids). Would welcome social and professional contact from all and sundry.
Tickner, Adam. 1989-1992
Adam matriculated at Queens in 1989 and read Biochemistry. Adam now works in the IT industry as a technology consultant.
Tomlinson, Steve. 1974-1977
Steve read Physics at Queen's, and then moved into electronic engineering and subsequently has spent most of his career in the sales and marketing of semiconductor chips. Steve is currently European Sales Director for BridgeCo AG of Zurich, a VC-backed start-up making chip to enable connectivity between consumer electronics products and the internet.
Tompkins, Ian. 1990-1991
Ian held the Holwell Studentship in Theology while studying for a D.Phil in Ancient History (The relations between Theodoret of Cyrrhus and his city and its territory, with particular reference to the letters and Historia Religiosa). He is now an Administrative Assistant in theAcademic Registrar's Office, University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and Warden ofPenbryn Hall of Residence.
Toone, Helen. 1990-1993
Helen was at Queen's reading Egyptology. She is now working as an Editorial Manager in Chennai
Torok, Eszter. 1990-1993
Eszter is currently living in Budapest, Hungary and working as a lawyer for the Budapest office of CMS Cameron McKenna. She is married and has a 20 month old son.
Tsang, Michael. 1985-1988
Michael read Modern History and Economics at Queen's. After Oxford, he worked 4 years at Reuters in Hong Kong before doing his MBA at the London Business School. He then worked 5 years in the financial derivatives market working for Bankers Trust and Morgan Stanley. Recently he joined BROKAT as their Sales & Marketing Director for Greater China, looking after their e-services division.
Tully, Roger. 1963-1970
Roger read chemistry at Queens before completing his DPhil. He worked in pharamceutical research for 23 years before returning to his native Cumbria where he is now an Internet Consultant. Details of his company, Inglewood Computer Services, can be found at his web sitehttp://www.cumbria.com/ics/
Turner, Graham. 1964-1967
Graham studied Modern Languages (French, Spanish) and moved to Spain in 1974. He embarked on a career in sports writing for El Pais, Daily Telegraph, World Soccer etc and had three years working at FC Barcelona when Terry Venables was manager in the 1980s. He then returned to press and TV journalism before starting work with UEFA in 1994.
Turner, Mark George. 1977-1980
Mark read law at Queen's. He was called to the bar in 1981. He is now Head of Chambers at Deans Court Chambers in Manchester and a Deputy High Court Judge. He is married with three daughters, Alice, Fiona and Lydia.
