Wadsworth, John. 1962-1965
John graduated in Physics and spent four years with Plessey Telecommunications before leaving to join the family business of Ratcliffe's Office Stationers in Rotherham. There he has taken an active part in local affairs, becoming President of Rotherham Rotary Club and of the Chamber of Trade. The business was taken over in 2006 by the BOS Office Supplies Group, for whom John now works as a Consultant. His interests include sailing, walking and skiing.
Walsh, Michele. 1985-1987
Michele read PPP at Queen's. She returned to the US in 1990, completed her PhD in Psychology, and is currently a research professor at the University of Arizona.
Webber, Bryan. 1961-1964
Bryan has been appointed Professor of Theoretical Physics at Cambridge. His web page is linked.
Weinberg, Julius. 1973-1976
Julius read Physiological Sciences and Medicine. After Queens he first became an infectious diseases physician, and then moved into public health. He has had periods of working in Zimbabwe and Bosnia. Now in more peaceful environs as ProVice Cancellor for research at City University, he is responsible for getting engineers, lawyers and a business school to do research. He says that he is 'Not quite sure how this happened'.
Weir, David T.H.. 1957-1961
David Weir was Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Glasgow University from 1974 to 1989, and subsequently Director of the Bradford University school of Management, then Dean and Director of the Newcastle Business School. He is now Professor of Intercultural Management at Ceram, a Grande Ecole in Sophia Antipolis on the Cote D'Azur.Still playing cricket and trying to support Leeds United FC.
Wheeler, Ann. 1995-1999
Ann is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London.
Whilesmith, John L. 1985-1988
John read Modern History at Queen's. He is married to Molly and has 2 children, Jack (2) and Kathleen (7 mths). He moved to the USA in 1997 and works for Deutsche Asset Management in New York.
White, Stuart. 1975-1978
Having read music and rowing, Stuart has ended up a lawyer doing insurance litigation with Reynolds Porter Chamberlain in London. He is also an organist at Farncombe church (near Guildford) and a member of the odd choir. Occasional attempts to row (the current v old members' races after Eights!) are a reminder of the days when we had eight eights on the river!
Whitehead, John. 1979-
John read chemistry at Queens, he then continued his studies at Oxford by completing a D. Phil in the Dyson Perrins Laboratories with Dr. Jim Thomas. He then began a career in the pharmaceutical industry as a medicinal chemist and is currently with Purdue Pharma in Cranbury, New Jersey. In his spare time he enjoys gardening and helping out at Pennsbury Manor in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Whyte, Jason Richard. 1990-1993
Jason is a partner with Accenture and lives in South West London. He married Leah Earl (St John's, 1990) in 2000 and in January 2005 they celebrated the birth of their first child, Gregor.
Wichmann, Peter. 1982-1985
Peter is married to Miriam and has two children, Hannah (born 1992) and Emily (born 1994). He is currently working as an IT Portfolio Delivery Manager for Friends Provident, based in Dorking in Surrey. He lives in Woking, Surrey.

Wight, Colin. 1973-1984
Colin Wight read Spanish and Portuguese for his first degree (1973-77), and returned to write an MLitt very, very slowly (1978-84). He is married to Anne Young and is currently Web Editor at the British Library. He was a member of the BL team that won the final of University Challenge the Professionals in 2004. He lives in Herne Hill, south London, escaping frequently to a cottage in the Charente. He continues to support Tranmere Rovers FC through thick and (more often) thin.
Wilcock, John Denis. 1958-1961
John was the Caving Leader of the Oxford University Expedition to Northern Spain 1961. After graduating, he worked in the computer industry for 7 years before lecturing in Higher Education, retiring as Reader in Computing at Staffordshire University in 1997. He is still Honorary Research Fellow at Staffordshire University, and Hon. Secretary of the British Cave Research Association. Besides this he enjoys archaeology, orienteering and Scottish Dancing, as well as running several web sites which may be accessed from his personal home page.
Wilde, Julian. 1964-1969
Julian Wilde, was an Open Scholar of The Queen's College, Oxford, where he took an Honours Degree in Theology. He has taught in state and independent schools in Manchester and Oxfordshire, and from 1984 to 1993 was Headmaster of The City School, Lincoln. He has travelled on study visits to the United States, the West Indies and New Zealand in recent years.
Wilderspin, Mark. 1995-1998
Mark studied Music and was President of the Eglesfield Music Society and co-reviver of the Eglesfield Chorus. After two years as Composer in Residence at Queenswood School and postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music in Composition for Screen, he is now working freelance as a programmer, composer and teacher, currently working for film composer Trevor Jones at his North London studio.
Willcock, John Barry. 1952-1955
After reading history at Queen's, Barry Willcock taught in Cheshire and Yorkshire and became Principal of Minsthorpe Community College in the former West Riding. In 1973 he became HM Inspector of Schools and later Staff Inspector for Secondary Education, a post he retired from in 1992. Since then he has worked as an educational consultant and has recently retired for a second time.
Williams, Thomas. 1988-1992
Thomas read Literae Humaniores at Queens and is now a barrister at the Birmingham Bar.
Willson, Tom. 1976-1979
Tom read zoology at Queen's, went on to read medicine at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London, and is now a GP in Hertfordshire. He has fond memories of the late Dr Peter Miller, a field trip to the Gower, the University folk club and Wadworth's 6X. Special interests include occupational medicine, early music and driving four of his five children (including triplets) to and from their different universities!
Wilson, Geoffrey L.. 1942-1949
After Shortened Physics Finals in 1944 Geoffrey was directed under National Service regulations to remain at Oxford as an assistant in the Admiralty research group at the Clarendon Laboratory. In 1948 he was transferred to HM Underwater Detection Establishment at Portland and in 1952 to the Torpedo Experimental Establishment in Greenock. He emigrated to Canada in 1953, and went to The Pennsylvania State University in 1959. He retired in 1985 to take up a special 5 year appointment at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. and returned to Pennsylvania in 1990. His hobby is family history, which brings him back to England from time to time.
Wong, Tim. 1987-1991
Tim read Engineering Science as an undergraduate at Queen's. He is currently Head of Research at Man Investment Products, London.
Wood, Christine. 1995-1998
Christine read Experimental Psychology as an undergraduate at Queen's. She now works as a business analyst at Datamonitor, the market analysis firm, and lives in London.
Woolf, Jonathan. 1991-1994
Jonathan read Modern History as an undergraduate. Following law school in York, and he now works as a corporate lawyer with Ashurst Morris Crisp (via Linklaters and a dot.com).
