Retired from chemistry faculty at the University of Wyoming 1979, dep. head there 1968-76, previously 1953-68, head of chemistry department University of Durham, formerly lecturer at Bristol Univ. WWII Head of corrosion research Magnesium Metal Corp. Author and co-author of "Organometallic Chemistry up to 3rd edition. Now lives in Laramie, Wyoming, U.S.A.

French, Arthur Knight.

In 1942, in Queen's Chapel, he was married to Joy Adams of St Hilda's, by Victor Johnson. They are still married (2004).
He made a career in teacher education: Derbyshire & West Riding 1947-55; Makerere College Uganda 1955-69, with a secondment to Teachers College, NY, 1962-3; then W Sussex till 1983, with a lot of voluntary work in adult religious education. Retired to Ipplepen in Devon 1990, now much involved in local village and family history.
His eldest son, Christopher, also went to Queen's.
