The Queen's College in Edinburgh
Bookings for this event have now closed. Any enquiries, please contact the Old Members' Office.
Old Members in Edinburgh and surrounding areas are invited to join the Provost for dinner in Edinburgh this April.
After coffee, we are delighted to be joined by Dr Margaret Maitland (Oriental Studies - Egyptology, 2004) from National Museums Scotland who will deliver a short talk on Social control in ancient Egypt. This short talk will explore how culture, interactions, and physical experiences shaped how ancient Egyptians saw themselves and their place in society.
We will be dining in the private room of Howies Waterloo Place restaurant (EH1 3BQ), a gorgeous Georgian building at the foot Calton Hill at 6.00pm for 6.30pm. The restaurant serves Scottish, seasonal and seriously tasty menus, which can you choose from on the night, and is close to Edinburgh Waverley train station, for Old Members who wish to attend from further afield.
After dinner drinks will be served at The Tryst bar in the Bonnie & Wild Scottish Marketplace, Edinburgh's beautiful, new food hall. Join us for an optional tour of the Marketplace (hosted by one of our Old Members), home to some of Scotland’s best independent food and drink producers. A 5 minutes' walk from the restaurant.
Places are limited so we are initially opening up this dinner to Old Members only.
RSVP: Monday 21 March
Tickets: £45 to include 3-courses and wines.
We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh!
