Victoria Patel

Lecturer in Mathematics

I studied for my undergraduate degree at the University of Warwick. I immediately continued on to the Queen’s College, Oxford on the Partial Differential Equations (PDE) Centre for Doctoral Training course. I am currently in my third year of study at Oxford and am beginning the second year of my DPhil project. I expect to complete my doctoral degree in the summer of 2022.

This is my second year of lecturing at Queen’s, following previous experience of teaching tutorials for first year undergraduates at Warwick during my Master's. I teach first-year courses, specifically applied courses. Furthermore, I am involved with inter-collegiate classes in the department for third- and fourth-year students.

My interests lie in the area of PDEs, particularly the analysis of PDEs and subsequent numerical analysis. My DPhil project is centred around the study of a particular type of implicitly constituted viscoelastic solids and the problems that result from modelling such materials. I also have a side interest in implicitly constituted fluids and measure-valued solutions of problems related to such fluids.
