Chapel 300: 300th Anniversary of the Chapel Celebratory Concert
1719 was to be the year in which the two greatest composers of their age would meet. Bach planned to travel to Halle to meet Handel who was visiting his mother, but he failed to make contact, and the two men never met. Owen Rees and The Choir of The Queen’s College will explore the remarkable achievements of these two great Baroque composers through music from 1719 that still enjoys huge popularity today.
The works performed will include Bach’s Magnificat and Handel’s My heart is inditing (which incorporates a setting of the College’s motto).
