On Friday 18 September, The Queen’s College will be open to prospective students from 09:00 – 16:30 for self-guided and guided tours. Refreshments will be available by our information desk in the Shulman Auditorium throughout the day.
There is no need to book to attend any of the talks or events at The Queen’s College as part of the Open Day; just show up on the day, and our friendly student ambassadors at the Welcome Desk will be able to direct you.

*The Meet the Tutors panels will feature a range of tutors from subjects across the listed disciplines. The panel will be useful to those considering a range of subjects within the listed areas, and is designed to give a flavour of the teaching and culture at Queen’s. We will talk about what tutors are looking for in potential students, the application and admissions process, and typical on-course teaching at Queen’s, as well as plenty of opportunity for questions from applicants and their supporters.
What happens on an Open Day?
Open Days are an opportunity for prospective students to get a feel for the College, explore the facilities and help you decide whether Oxford and Queen’s might be the place for you.
Our admissions and access team, as well as our wonderful current students, will be on hand to answer your queries about the application process and college life. Our Meet the Tutors panels will also give you chance to ask subject-specific questions and gain further insight into what teaching and learning is like at Queen’s.
After you have visited us at Queen’s, you can explore the range of events and talks taking place across the whole University. You can consult the full timetable of events on the University webpage to help you plan your visit.
How to make the most of an Open Day
There is a lot to see and do on Open Days – here’s how to make the most of your time.
Make sure to consult Department, Faculty and College timetables in advance so that you can plan your day. Make sure that the Colleges you wish to visit offer your chosen course! Oxford is a small city, but you will still need to leave yourself plenty of time to move between venues and to travel in and out of the city centre. Read the University’s Open Day travel advice for more information.
Do your research in advance so that you can make the most of the time you will spend chatting to students, tutors, and staff on the day. This will help you figure out if there are questions that you can’t find the answer to online. Consider bringing a notebook to jot down your thoughts about each College or important things about the course that you will want to reflect on after the Open Days!

Overnight Accommodation for North West school groups
We are usually able to offer a limited amount of overnight accommodation for state school groups in our North West link regions of Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Lancashire, and Cumbria for one night preceding each summer open days. Unfortunately, we do not have overnight accommodation available for the September open day.
The deadline to sign up for accommodation for the July open days has now passed.
