Introduction
I grew up in Hertfordshire and attended St Edmund’s College, Ware, before reading medicine at Oxford, where I studied at The Queen’s College and Green Templeton College. I completed my Academic Foundation Programme in Yorkshire, attaining a PGCert in Health Research and Statistics from the University of York, before taking a year out of clinical training to complete a fully-funded MSc in Health Data Analytics and Machine Learning at Imperial College London. I am now an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford, conducting research alongside my surgical training.
Teaching
I teach the entire breadth of the surgical curriculum to clinical students at Queen’s, conducting bedside tutorials, case-based teaching sessions, and practical surgical skills courses. Nationally, I hold a committee position on the Royal College of Surgeon’s of Edinburgh (RCSEd) Core Trainee Forum, where I organise leadership training to early-career surgeons.
Research
My research experience spans laboratory, computational, and clinical domains. Previous vascular surgery research projects I have led include work on surgical site infection, venous disease, and the external validity of vascular trials. My work at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences focuses on abdominal aortic aneurysm disease, where I am an investigator on the Metformin Aneurysm Trial, the largest medicines trial in aneurysm disease to date. I am also applying computational and machine learning techniques to Oxford aneurysm data, to provide data-driven insights into how we can improve aneurysm care.
