Led by the University of Oxford, the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, and the Queen’s Translation Exchange, The Schools’ Laureate is a new book prize awarded by school students in the UK.

The Schools’ Laureate is designed to inspire young people to read the world. Students across the UK are reading books from the shortlist – including two books in translation – and have access to Book Club guides, interviews with authors and translators, and other resources that bring contemporary literature into the classroom. This year’s cohort of students will come together in Oxford in mid-June to choose their winner.

You can find The Schools’ Laureate on Instagram or using the hashtag #SchoolsLaureate2026.
