Co-director of the Translation Exchange longlisted for the International Booker Prize
The College is delighted to announce that the co-director of the Translation Exchange, Jenny Higgins, has been longlisted for the International Booker Prize for her co-translation of Faces on the Tip of my Tongue by Emmanuelle Pagano (French).
The College-based Translation Exchange is a new outreach and research initiative that brings together expertise in literary translation and outreach within the College, University, city, and country to develop a broad programme of translation-related activities for students, schools, and the public.
Jenny says: ‘I'm delighted to be longlisted, and so glad that Emmanuelle's work has been recognised in this way. She's a unique, exciting writer who takes her work in new directions with each book. Sophie Lewis, my co-translator, and I have spent many happy and challenging hours bringing her work into English and I hope more people will read it as a result of this nomination.’
Jenny Higgins is a translator from French and Italian. As well as translating, Jenny regularly leads translation workshops and is a tutor on the Advanced French Translation course at Oxford.
