The College congratulates Professor Tim Leunig (Modern History and Economics, 1989) who has been nominated to sit in the Lords as a Liberal Democrat peer.
Professor Leunig is Visiting Professor in Practice at the School of Public Policy, LSE where he has also taught in the Department of Economic History for 25 years.
He is both an economist and a historian by training, and is a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society and the Royal Historical Society. Professor Leunig spent more than a decade as a senior UK civil servant, including acting as chief analyst and chief scientific adviser to the Department for Education, and as economic adviser to two Chancellors of the Exchequer. He is currently chief economist at the social innovation agency Nesta and Director of Economics at Public First consulting.
Commenting on the appointment, Professor Leunig said:
