The College is delighted to note that some of our Easter Science Residential attendees have gained places at Oxford this year. Congratulations to Toby from Cockermouth School in Cumbria, one of our link schools, who has been accepted to read Chemistry at Queen’s. Toby says:
The residential allowed me to experience what it would be like to study at Oxford, which I found invaluable; I was able to get a taste of independent studying, using the library to help research topics and partake in a tutorial, which helped build my confidence and made me less nervous about my interview.
I was also able to explore not only Queen’s but the other colleges and the rest of the city, such as the Botanic Gardens. This not only made me choose Queen’s as my preferred college, due to their resources and how nice the accommodation was, but also let me see what living at Oxford would be like.
Congratulations also to Toby’s twin brother Alex who will be coming to Oxford and to residential attendee Karol who will be joining Lady Margaret Hall to read Medicine, having achieved an A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry, A in English Language, and an A in Extended Project Qualification. Â Karol says:
Going on the North West Science Residential at Queen’s really helped me feel confident that Medicine at Oxford was the right path for me. Doing some research in the library and getting a taste of what a tutorial is like was a real eye-opener. It made me realise how much I wanted to study there. Although I’ve been accepted to study at LMH this October, I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with some of the friends I met on the residential who got into Queen’s.
