You are here

Old Members are very welcome to return to Queen's, and on a trip to Oxford you may like to visit your old college.

Queen's is closed to the public so you may be asked to identify yourself on arrival at the Lodge. If you have a University Alumni Card, you may be asked to present this. If you do not, our Porters may ask you a few questions to help find you on our database. More details on how to apply for a University Alumni Card can be found on our Old Members' FAQs page

Alternatively, if you know you are coming in advance, please send the Old Members' Office an email so we can let the Lodge Porters know of your plans.

Visiting the Library

If you spent time in the Library during your time at Queen’s, you will probably have fond memories of your time studying here, perhaps especially of the Upper Library.

Opening times

Old Members are welcome at various times of the year and normal opening hours are Monday - Friday between 10am - 4pm.  The Library is not generally open to visits at weekends, although Saturday morning visits, during term time, can sometimes be accommodated.

In advance of your visit you will need to make a prior appointment directly with the Library (01865 279130) or you can contact the Old Members Office by email with details of the date and time you wish to visit.

Visits should be brief and quiet and ideally in groups of no more than 4 at a time.

During Trinity Term we ask that Old Member visits are kept to a minimum, this limits the disruption to students studying in the Library for exams.  Visits during 0th week are also not encouraged as we will be inducting large numbers of new students. Please consider an alternative date to visit if at all possible.

All enquires related to the College Archives should be emailed to the Archivist.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you in the future.
