Undergraduate student ambassadors

As part of our access and outreach work, Queen’s undergraduate students are invited to sign up as Student Ambassadors. This is a voluntary and diverse role, which can include giving tours of the College for prospective students and taking part in Q&As about student life. Student Ambassadors are also recruited in a paid capacity to support the running of the annual Open Days. There are opportunities throughout the year to sign up for both in-person and virtual events which suit your timetable and availability.

Student Ambassadors should act as positive role models for The Queen’s College to prospective applicants, provide accurate information about life at Oxford, and encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to consider university study.

The Schools Liaison, Outreach, and Recruitment Officer sends an email at the start of each term to recruit interested students. All ambassadors must attend a compulsory training session before taking part in outreach activities. You can also contact the Schools Liaison, Outreach, and Recruitment Officer at schools.liaison@queens.ox.ac.uk if you have any questions about how to get involved.

Postgraduate academic session tutors

As part of our access and outreach work, The Queen’s College recruits a pool of current postgraduate students to deliver academic taster sessions. These can be stand-alone sessions to school groups as part of a day visit, or form part of Queen’s wider outreach projects, such as the Virtual Study Days or North West Science Residential. Taster sessions are designed to give prospective students an insight into university-style learning and to contribute to increasing access to higher education and to Oxford for young people from underrepresented groups.

This is also an excellent opportunity for postgraduate students to share their research interests with a wider audience. This is a casual, paid work opportunity, open to postgraduate students in their second year of a DPhil or above.

The Schools Liaison, Outreach, and Recruitment Officer sends an email at the start of the academic year to recruit interested postgraduate students. All successful postgraduates must attend a compulsory, paid training session before taking part in outreach activities.
