Oxford, and Queen’s specifically, has so much to offer in terms of both academic and personal development. This is one of the best places in the world to study my subject, where I am able to work closely with some of the leaders in the field on a daily basis.
The collegiate system also allows you to be part of a smaller community, and at Queen’s I’ve found that community to be very active and friendly.
Advice for Applicants
One of my worries before starting my DPhil, especially in the humanities for which individual research is more common, was that I might find myself buried in work without the opportunity to socialise. However, the MCR has a programme of regular social events of various kinds, so there’s plenty of chance to have a good time and to get to know people.
