The College will celebrate the life of Dr C Martin Edwards this summer with a Memorial Cricket Match at The Queen’s College Sports Ground (map) on Saturday 29 June, 11am till 5pm.

Old Members, Fellows, staff and their families are invited to come along and enjoy a day watching the game. During the interval, there will be a short memorial ceremony, light BBQ lunch and ice cream; and there will be drinks available for purchase from the Pavilion bar throughout the day. Bookings will open in early May.

Dr C Martin Edwards (1941–2021) was a mathematician, Old Member and Emeritus Fellow of Queen’s and gave great service to the College. Decades of Old Members have fond memories of him, most notably as Dean (1971–2009) and through his involvement in the Amalgamated Sports Clubs.

PROGRAMME

SATURDAY 29 JUNE

11.00am Start of the Cricket Match
Interval: Memorial Ceremony and BBQ lunch
5.00pm End of play

There will be a small number of additional activities available for guests, such as croquet and garden games, in the adjoining spaces.

Wet weather: As Cricket is weather dependent, a view will be taken nearer the time. Our hope is that if play cannot go ahead but weather is still suitable to gather, our plan is to revise the timings of the day so that the Memorial Ceremony can still take place, if possible. Further communication will be sent nearer the time.

There will be limited parking available for players only. All other attendees are asked to park at the Redbridge Park and Ride, OX1 4XG (map) and travel by bus to the Sports Ground.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer accommodation in College for this event.
