The College warmly congratulates Dr Charlotte Ryland, founding Director of the Queen’s Translation Exchange (QTE), who has been shortlisted for a Vice-Chancellor’s Award in the category of Local Community Engagement.

The award recognises colleagues who have made a meaningful impact through collaboration, celebrating work that improves the lives of individuals and communities across Oxfordshire.

Charlotte’s nomination reflects the growing influence of the Translation Exchange’s outreach programme, which partners with schools to promote language learning.

Established to widen access to languages and highlight their cultural and creative value, QTE works directly with pupils and teachers to challenge perceptions about language study. Through workshops and collaborative projects, it works to inspire lifelong engagement in languages and international culture.

Last year, QTE delivered multilingual workshops to over 700 pupils across Oxfordshire through its Creative Translation Ambassadors programme and engaged more than 3,000 pupils through the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators.

The QTE team will be taking part in the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards Showcase on Tuesday 2 June from 10am–4pm in the Schwarzman Centre. All (including members of the public) are welcome to drop in to say hello!
