As the Schools Liaison, Outreach and Recruitment Officer, I am responsible for working with schools, students, and educators, primarily those from our link areas of Cumbria, Lancashire, Blackpool, Blackburn with Darwen, Lewisham, and Sutton. My role is to support students from backgrounds that have traditionally been underrepresented at Oxford University, providing them with information, advice, and guidance about life at Oxford and how to make a competitive application.
Throughout the year, we welcome students to Queen’s for visit days with their school, residentials (including our North West Science Residential), and the University Open Days. I also visit students in their region, delivering talks to them in their schools, colleges, or at UCAS Fairs. I also make online video content and manage the Queen’s Outreach social media accounts, including the Twitter (@QueensOutreach) and Instagram (@queensoxaccess) accounts, allowing students who are unable to visit us in person to find out more about life at Queen’s.
Students and their supporters are always welcome to get in touch with me via email (schools.liaison@queens.ox.ac.uk) to ask any questions about applying to Queen’s or to Oxford more generally, to arrange a visit, or to discuss ways that I can support them in finding out more about Oxford and Queen’s.
