Queen’s welcomes graduate students who wish to study biology at doctoral level in any of the research areas offered by the Departments of Zoology or Plant Sciences. Full details of the graduate courses available can be found on either department’s website. We particularly welcome applicants from the NERC doctoral training programme. There is one Biology Tutorial Fellow at Queen's and two Senior Research Fellows. We also have a Junior Research Fellow.

  • Dr Lindsay Turnbull who is the Queen's Tutorial Fellow. She is an ecologist based in Plant Sciences;
  • Prof Jane Langdale FRS is a Senior Research Fellow who works on the genetics and evolution of plant development;
  • Prof. Steven Kelly is a Senior Research Fellow who works on gene expression networks and plant photosynthesis pathways;
  • Dr Annette Fayet joined us in October 2016 as a Junior Research Fellow. She works on seabird migration and feeding patterns.

Queen’s is an exciting place to be a biologist.  There are plenty of opportunities to interact with Fellows and to become involved with our vibrant undergraduate and graduate student communities.

The College is very happy to consider PGCE applications.
