Path framed by multiple torii gates

Queen's admits postgraduate students in a wide range of courses in Oriental Studies, particularly those that connect in some way with the interests of our fellows in Chinese, Japanese, and Egyptology (see also the separate Egyptology postgraduate subject page for more details). The college is a welcoming base for researchers working on the various languages, cultures, times, and places encompassed by Oriental Studies: in particular, the Workshop for Manuscript and Text Cultures at Queen's provides a diverse programme of lectures, seminars, and other activities of interest to researchers in the premodern humanities, while the college's overall strength in languages allows it to support frequent events in translation studies and comparative literature.

Current tutors include: Jennifer Guest (pre-modern Japanese literature and culture), Dirk Meyer (classical Chinese language, culture and philosophy), Richard Parkinson (Egyptology), and Hu Bo (modern Chinese language).
