Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The College is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Throughout her reign, the Queen demonstrated extraordinary dedication and steadfast commitment to duty. She provided continuity in people’s lives through decades of change, and most recently through the dark days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many will mourn her, despite not knowing her personally, and many more besides will pay their respects to a national figure who has been constant throughout our lives.
The Chaplain led a short said service of prayer on 9 September for those in College who wished to pay their respects and pause to remember Her Majesty, and the University is providing online and-in person books of condolence.
College events will continue as usual (as the late Queen indicated she would prefer) but with appropriate acknowledgement of the period of National Mourning and the Accession of King Charles III.
